About Us

Blackwolf is a medieval enactor group based in Southern Queensland, Australia. We are 12th/13th-century traders, Crusader knights, and mercenaries from Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, traversing the Silk and Spice Roads masquerading as a Bedouin caravan, buying and selling goods and offering our services to the highest bidder.

Our group members are diverse, hailing from France, England, Scotland, Poland, and Finland, and each one brings their own unique National dress, food, traditions, medicines, and expertise to the group.

Visitors to our camp are always welcome. We’d love to give you a tour of our Bedouin tent, show you how to make cheese over our campfire, discuss medieval brewing techniques, explain medieval medicine, or regale you with tales of adventure, discovery, and intrigue at our colourful market stall.

Are you enamoured by history and love to dig deep into the cultures, traditions, and habits of Europe and the Middle East during the 12th and 13th centuries? Does the thought of building your own furniture, sewing your own clothes, and brewing your own wine give you a thrill?

what we do

The Blackwolf encampment is a bustling hub where warriors, merchants, and tradesman gather to sell their sword, hawk their wares, and ply their trades. Our tassel-trimmed market stall is the heart of our camp where we share the mysteries of medieval medicine, the exotic tales of the coffee trade, the mysteries of medieval brewing, and the fascinating way tiny flax seeds become luxuriously soft linen.

Combat

Led by our noble Duc Robert le Rouge, our brave combatants take on all comers through combat, archery, and axe-throwing. With dedicated training days and regular tournaments with other groups, we are consistently improving our skills and having a fantastic time in the process.

Market

We have a thriving market at Blackwolf – just look for the brightly coloured tassels dancing in the wind. Here we sell bolts of fine linen, bags of coffee beans ready for roasting, books on medieval medicine and Bedouin cooking, and wares featuring the medieval craft of wood-burning. Our tables are laden with fascinating displays of brews, elixirs, plants, and dried herbs, and our merchants love sharing the thrilling history and folklore behind it all.

Food

We love feasting on delicious medieval fare and pride ourselves on making creamy homemade cheeses, spiced sausages, fresh bread, succulent stews, and the finest of home-brews. From fermenting and pickling to spit-roasting and smoking, we love to share the ways medieval Europeans and Bedouins hunted, foraged, harvested, and prepared food and drink.
